  Adding Custom Elements to WxPortal
For additional monthly fees you can easily add custom overlays and "derived weather variables" to your WxPortal ensemble. Look at the following examples to see how your business can benefit from WxPortal customization.

Custom Overlays - The WxPortal custom overlays service includes the creation and maintenance of any number of customer specific WxPortal overlays like facility maps.

The overlays are generated for any WxPortal zone as needed. Custom overlays require that you supply WindLogics with industry standard GIS data files such as "shape" files or ARCinfo files. Custom overlays have one-time set-up and change fees and an ongoing monthly fee.
.
Custom Overlay Example - Electric Power Trading Regions:

Derived Weather Variables - Derived weather variables give you the ability to create combination weather variables based on your needs.

Custom derived variables are those requested by a user which require certain customer defined color schemes, data spreads or other unique options. Not only can you create specific variables, you can further customize them by data grouping / coloring / XY graph depiction, etc. These variable combinations go beyond those you can create with overlays in the basic subscription service. Overlaying variables is great, but that simple overlay process does not actually compute the difference between two variables, or display the difference in a new color or other manner.
Derived Variable Example - High Temperature Error:
This example computes the difference between the predicted high temperature and the actual hight temperature. The blue (cooler) colors show areas that were cooler than predicted, while the yellow and red (warmer) colors show areas that were warmer than predicted.

Custom Overlay plus Derived Variable Example:
Now you can see the real power of customizing WxPortal. At a glance a busy power trader can easily see which regions are affected by forecast errors that affect the price per megawatt. This kind of graphic information lets you make better, faster decisions.
